3 reasons to sign up for the new Nyvoirienne event
Here at LGSA, we always have our eye out for things that haven’t been done before.
Now we are very proud to announce the Nyvoirienne. You swim between the beautiful town of Nyon (CH) and the renowned medieval villages of Nernier and Yvoire (FR). Let’s have a look at what makes the Nyvoirienne so special.
1. The destinations you will swim to
Unlike our Classique event and our Escape Léman event, the Nyvoirienne has very specific destinations. You start at Nyon, a beautiful town on the shores of Lake Geneva. It gives you such a sense of calm walking around the cobbled streets, visiting a few museums and always having the lake in the background. And as you walk around the town, you will find traces of its Roman past everywhere.
When you cross the lake, you will reach the shores of the Nernier and Yvoire. The locals call Yvoire the “gem of the lake” and it’s easy to see why. Its beautiful medieval city centre is often placed on lists of most beautiful villages in France.
In the fortified centre, you will travel back to Middle-Age by discovering the gates and ramparts which used to protect the village and the castle from the modern era to discover a picturesque site which has perfectly been preserved.
2. The flexibility of the event distances itself
Want to join this event but not sure if you can swim the full race to the three different villages? Not a problem. To make this event accessible to swimmers with different experiences, we have set up 3 different distances.
A 2km swim that follows the shoreline between the villages of Nernier and Yvoire. This is distance if you want to gain more experience swimming in open water
A 5km swim that crosses the lake. It is a popular distance among open-water adventure seekers. The Nyvoirienne will challenge you to swim from one country to another and it’s a wonderful sense of achievement.
The full 7km event. The longest distance that we offer at this event, which starts a Nyon, you cross the lake to Nernier and swim along the shore to Yvoire. You will see everything there is to see on this swim guaranteed.
3. A fully supported swim
Except for your travel and accommodation expenses, you will have everything you need for swimming in Lake Geneva when you sign up for the Nyvoirienne.
Your entry to this swimming adventure already includes a one-way ferry transport between Nyon – Yvoire (or vice versa, depending on the weather on the day of the event.
During your swim, you will be supported by a professional water safety team to make sure nothing happens to you on your swim.
The entry for the 5km and the 7km include feed stations that will keep you fed during your swim with a selection of energy drinks, gels or bars.
After completing the event you will receive an event medal and a special LGSA Nyvoirienne commemorative price so you will always have something to remember the day by.
What can I expect if I sign up for the Nyvoirienne?
The Nyvoirienne is an adventure with the thrill of swimming across the Petit Lac. On the day of the event, you check in at the event village before the swim and pick up your swimmer pack. If you are travelling from Yvoire in the morning, the ferry you take to the start at Nyon will depend on your event start time.
The boat ride to the start can take up to 20 minutes so do bring some warm clothes on board just in case! You can pack these in a small rucksack before your swim start and the event team will transport it to the finish (recommended size up to 20L).
During your swim, kayaks and support watercraft will be on hand to offer support and to look out for you.
Event markers and the on-water support team will help guide you across the lake, with a feed station positioned after 2.5km (7km and 5km distances only).
At the finish beach, you receive your medal, event souvenirs and a warm drink!
